Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of Public Health (PH) Management, the Instructor - Clinical Educator Breastfeeding/Maternal Child (CE BMC), leads the planning, co-ordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities for designated health care staff that support breastfeeding families. The CE-BMC works in collaboration with the Best Practice Coordinator-Maternal Child (BPC-MC) to support clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices/guidelines. The CE-BMC promotes clinical competence of nursing staff by developing and delivering education related to mandatory education and revisions to practice support documents, policies and procedures. The CE-BMC determines education based on identified needs including orientation of staff, continuing competencies, quality improvement, and strategic plans. The CE-BMC will engage the Program Evaluation Team to manage ongoing quality improvement and data management to ensure that these approaches and actions lead to measurable improvement in health care services and health status of targeted patient groups. The CE-BMC functions as a change agent and resource for staff. The CE-BMC collaborates with the BPC-MC and PH Management to integrate evidence informed breastfeeding support into initiatives such as program development, quality improvement and assurance. The CE-BMC collaborates at the zone and provincial level and represents CenZ on the Provincial Breastfeeding Committee. The CE-BMC will utilize diversity and health equity approaches to close gaps in population health outcomes: equity by providing leadership to create an enabling environment that supports all families to meet their infant feeding goals; diversity by employing population health approaches to address the needs of priority populations and families who are most underserved or at major risk.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). **Additional Required Qualifications**:
A minimum of 5 years in public health working with maternal child health, with a background in lactation support. Previous experience in zone and provincial committee work, demonstrated proficiency in developing operational practice support guidelines. Demonstrated computer literacy, Connect Care, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and use of One Note. Previous experience in providing input into the development of guidelines and policies in public health or similar organization. Demonstrates excellent organizational, change management/support and communication skills (written and oral) including well-developed presentation skills.
