**The Role**

Northwestern Polytechnic is looking for patient driving instructors to teach our learners how to drive Class 1 and/or Class 3 commercial vehicles. The driving instructor's responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons that promote learners theoretical and applied driving skills.

Continuing Education is currently seeking instructors to teach the following:

- Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT)
- Experience and Equivalency Mandatory Entry Level Training ( Class 3 to 1 MELT)
- Alberta Air Brakes (Q Endorsement)

**Responsibilities**
- Delivering Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) Class 1
- Providing Class 3 training
- Providing instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle and on-road regulations
- Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving
- Maintaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations
- Provide constructive feedback to develop the learner's confidence

Job Requirements
- Valid Class 1 driver's license with at least three years professional driving experience
- Acceptable driving abstract (no more than 6 demerits, and no license suspensions within the preceding two year period)
- Thorough knowledge of the Traffic Safety Act, Provincial Hours of Service, Cargo Securement, Weights & Dimensions, and Pre-trip Inspection.
