**Qualifications**
- Reports to nurse in charge and the Director of Care
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Clear understanding of resident centered care
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong team orientation
- Trained in CPR and First Aid
- Trained and qualified to administer medications while working under a RPN

**Team Work**
- Interacts effectively and supports relationships with residents, families and other members of the
- health team
- Recognizes and supports the role(s) and boundaries of the RPN/LPN/RNA and the Unregulated
- Care Providers on the team
- Works effectively with others
- Assists team members and other co-workers to achieve quality in their work
- Recognizes the need to communicate and include all departments of the community in the care of
- our residents e.g., dietary, activation
- Contributes to the planning of care and service plan
- Supports both team and organizational goals
- Participates in committee and task forces as required

- Follows up on all resident and family enquiries (takes accountability to ensure reply is given)

- Provides services in such a way that problems and unpredictable events are invisible to the
- resident and family
- Maintains a positive and friendly manner at all times (greets every resident, family member and
- employee on sight)

**Resident Centered**
- Promotes actions that support best health outcomes for residents
- Contributes to the resident’s care
- Acts as a resident advocate
- Assist the resident in such a way as to achieve their maximum health potential
- Advocates for resident centered care
- Respects the rights of residents to maintain independent life styles with dignity in their own

**Qualities and profile sought**:

- Certification as a personal support worker or equivalent is an asset but not required if you possess the correct personality traits and have a desire to genuinely care for the senior population.
