Duncan, Canada Kw'umut Lelum Child and Family Services Full time

Kw’umut Lelum is an Indigenous child and family services Agency located on Vancouver Island. We currently have a Family Support Worker position available, and are looking for an individual that is skilled at working inclusively and respectfully with Indigenous children and families of our 9 Member Nations.

**General Responsibilities**

Practice can include a range of support for families, children and youth. These services are intended to help promote children's safety, maximize quality of life and assist families in their role as primary caregivers. Duties include:

- Assists clients with all aspects of daily living, including but not limited to arranging appointments, transportation, accessing community supports, and financial support as needed.
- Assist in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of plans to develop specific family and child support strategies, and assist in coordinating resources.
- Provide parenting advice, support and education and problem solving skills to achieve safe, nurturing home environments for children and youth.

**Staffing Criteria**

Cultural Knowledge:

- Knowledge of the unique and diverse traditional practices of the Coast Salish (Hwulmuxw Mustimuxw) an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Exceptional organizational and planning skills;
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills;
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - written and oral;
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and client privacy;
- Strong documentation and computer skills.

Education and Related Experience:

- Bachelor of Social Work, or Bachelor of Art in Child and Youth Care;
- Diploma in Child and Youth Care, with minimum of 2 years’ experience, with;
- A practicum completed in an Indigenous child and family welfare organization preferred;
- Related post-secondary diploma/degree with an appropriate combination of related experience considered.

Required:

- Clean Criminal Record Check;
- **Must **possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 driver’s license.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.59-$32.31 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
