This is an 8 week, 35 hours a week position, paying $19.60/hour.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the warehouse coordinator, the warehouse associate will be tasked with supporting food rescue operations at the Mustard Seed's Food Security Distribution Centre. A commercial warehouse, the Food Rescue Distribution Centre salvages up to 10,000 lbs of fresh food from local grocery stores everyday, diverting it back to food insecure individuals across greater Victoria, positively impacting ~45,000 individuals per month.

Interns will also be expected to work almost all of the shift on their feet. Moving many boxes including lifting up to 40 lbs.

Duties and responsibilities of this role include:

- Helping to coordinate shipping and receiving at the warehouse
- Volunteer coordination
- Warehouse stocking
- Warehouse inventory (input, upload, change products according to date, etc.)
- Preparing and building rescued food orders for partner agencies
- Ensuring hygiene and safety in line with COVID-19 Public Health guidelines, where and if applicable
- Mustard Seed Team duties as needed/required

These positions are mostly funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

To be eligible, youth must:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
