Security Technician

**Overview**
As a Security Technician, your primary duty will be to independently review, understand, analyze (for correctness), and implement access control systems including ADO (automatic door operators) electric strikes, accessibility systems and camera systems, as well as integrating traditional high security lock systems such as Medeco and Mul-T-Lock.

This role requires the ability and know-how to properly complete the installation, understand and follow the estimated Bill of Materials, and be capable of making adjustments or finding alternative solutions as needed to complete installations to client satisfaction.

Though based in Oshawa, you may be required to travel to job sites throughout the GTA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Installing and servicing electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV and intrusion alarms
- Pre-wiring, installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Assist in system design and layout
- Provide customers with training for proper system usage, and respond to technical inquiries
- Relationship building with clients and prospects for future opportunities
- Administrative duties including project updates to job logs, completing and filing all project documentation
- Support, and collaborate with team members
- Maintain a high level of safety and professionalism
- Lead projects at a site level, manage a team of junior technicians as necessary
- Work at required heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, lifts, or other.
- Work in confined spaces as necessary.
- Perform other tasks as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry
- Experience leading and managing a team of cabling technicians
- Experience with any of the following Access Control systems: Smart Air, Lenel, Software House, Avigilon, Identiv, Honeywell, Open Path, RS2, S2, AMAG, Gallagher, Open Options.
- Experience with any of the following Intrusion systems: DMP, DSC, Honeywell, Bosch.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to use hand and specialty tools associated with the industry
- Ability to lift 50lbs consistently
- Able to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Post secondary training in electronics or equivalent
- Vendor Certification in low voltage systems is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices for copper and fiber optic cabling systems

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, will be required to travel to and from job site locations, may work in a typical office environment, and is occasionally exposed to construction equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Confined space entry may be required. High work may be required.

Pay: $24.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.5 per week
