**Tasks**:

- Load and off-load machines
- Notify supervisor or mechanic of equipment malfunctions
- Operate and feed a variety of machines
- Cut fabric or layers of fabric to specifications
- Set up, maintain and make minor repairs to machinery
- Cut fur skins according to specifications
- Push carts, trucks or cans of fibres from one work area to another
- Clean machines and immediate work areas
- Investigate machine stoppages
- Number pelts to indicate their place on pattern
- Assist machine operators and other têxtile workers as required
- Sort or match fur skins
- Select leather and cutting dies
- Position leather to maximize usage according to skin grain, skin flaws and skin stretch
- Operate machine or manually fabricate leather products
- Cut and prepare fabric, leather and fur samples
- Adjust cutting technique to type of fabric and style of garment
- Operate clicker or punch press to stretch leather
- Adjust rotation and mixing action of vats according to state of pelts
- Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Mix dyes or chemicals according to established formulae
- Operate a variety of machines to bleach, dye, coat or finish fabric, thread, yarn or other têxtile products
- Prepare solutions to clean, dehair, pickle, oil or tan hides and skins
- Remove flesh and loose hair from hides and pelts
- Shave hides to uniform thickness
- Shear hides to specified length
- Tint or dye furs
