**Job Summary**
**What is the Opportunity?**
We have an exciting opportunity to join the the Credit Risk Review (CRR) team, where you will play a critical role in providing independent and objective evaluations of retail credit risk management practices at RBC Bank in the United States. This role supports the development and implementation of the CRR coverage strategy for RBC Bank. Your work will help ensure the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls, credit risk ratings and corporate governance processes. Key stakeholders include 1st and 2nd line of defense bankers, senior leadership, regulators, auditors, and ultimately, the U.S. Risk Committee.
**What Will You Do?**
**Credit Risk Review Practice**
- Participate in the execution of CRR reviews of RBC Bank’s retail lending portfolio - including mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and credit cards. This includes evaluating risk rating accuracy, underwriting and portfolio management practices, compliance with regulatory guidance, and compliance with RBC policies and procedures.
- Execute the risk-based annual plan in collaboration with CRR leadership and key stakeholders ensuring adequate, risk-based coverage of the loan portfolio.
- Review borrower, portfolio, and product specific credit risks, identifying appropriate remediation actions, and communicating findings clearly and effectively.
- Conduct risk assessments; monitoring emerging risks and industry trends impacting retail lending.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to risk frameworks, governance, and internal processes.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper identification, documentation and resolution of risks impacting the loan portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to monitor the portfolio and to enhance CRR processes.
- Collaborates with credit risk stakeholders across all three lines of defense.
**What do you need to succeed?**
**Must have**
- 7+ years of experience in retail credit in an underwriting, adjudication, credit risk review, credit audit, consulting, and/or regulatory capacity
- Strong knowledge of U.S. regulatory guidance and retail lending products
- Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to accept accountability, assume leadership, demonstrate initiative, and work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and productively with various internal and external stakeholders
**Nice to Have**
- Graduate degree (e.g. Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Economics etc.)
- Regulatory background in a supervision and regulation role related to retail lending
