Fabrication Shop Shipper/receiver

Fortis Mining Engineering & Manufacturing is currently recruiting for the position of a
- ** Fabrication Shop Shipper/Receiver.** The Fabrication Shop Shipper/Receiver performs a variety of tasks and is responsible for shipping/ receiving and recording the movement of parts, supplies, materials, and equipment to and from the fabrication shop. The Fabrication Shop Shipper/Receiver must load and unload shipments regularly, with the capability of repetitive heavy lifting, and use any necessary equipment, such as a forklift. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Determine method of shipment to sub-contractors or customers and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices, and other shipping documents in appropriate computer programs, according to company policy
- Liaise with Logistics Coordinator, as necessary
- Coordinate shipments and ensure all required documents are correct
- Contact carriers for confirming shipments
- Assemble containers and crates, record contents in computer system, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
- Prepare to receive large shipments when advised by Fabrication Shop Planner/Scheduler or Supervisor of scheduled arrival date, including receiving shipments after regular business hours
- Load and unload vendor and supplier goods off trucks or other conveyances
- Sort and distribute incoming shipments
- Operate a forklift or electric pallet jack in a safe manner to move product
- May manually lift cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices, purchase orders, or other documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing off
- Unpack, code, and route goods to appropriate storage areas
- Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Follow organizational standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding shipping and receiving
- Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems, in a timely manner
- Perform other labour duties as required
- Assist with cutting metal for jobs
- Assist with changing oxyacetylene tanks
- Pre-use equipment inspections and maintenance of equipment

**REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS**
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to complete waybills and other shipping documentation
- Ability to read basic drawings and take measurements
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum two years of experience in shipping/receiving, or a similar role
- Any safety-related training and certificates would be beneficial but not required (i.e., Forklift)
- Driver’s license required
