**About the Role**
As Controller, you will be the glue that keeps our accounting department running smoothly. You will own the GL, financials, AP/AR, fixed assets, and audit prep. You will report directly to the CFO and play a critical role in modernizing our finance infrastructure, building bench strength, and freeing leadership to focus on strategy.
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and accruals
- Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting
- Manage all regulatory compliance and reporting (WCB, CRA, Service Canada, etc.)
- Maintain and champion accounting policies, internal controls, and audit readiness
- Support cash flow analysis and forecasting
- Develop and maintain project cost tracking; identify variances and recommend improvements
- Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant accounting records
- Monitor overhead expenses and recommend cost-saving strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing accounting team
- Input and maintain project budgets for real-time tracking and forecasting
- Act as ERP power user: manage access, cost codes, and project setup
- Lead implementation and oversight of the purchase order process
- Perform other related duties as needed
**What You Bring**
- Industry experience or CPA/CPA PEP Student
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with mid-market ERP (Acumatica preferred, Sage 100/300, Viewpoint, etc.)
- Strong understanding of construction/project accounting
- Proven ability to manage and develop junior staff
- Can execute, not just delegate
