**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and supervise base crews in an efficient manner to meet quality and time specifications;
- Encourage a strong safety culture and lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment including the safe operation of company vehicles and equipment. This includes the physical and psychological safety of crews;
- Operating a variety of base equipment (such as grader, roller & skid steer) as well as performing some labour duties;
- Complete base construction activities on company projects and meet productivity and quality goals;
- Provide effective leadership and training to the crew members;
- Ordering of equipment and materials to meet the needs of the project;
- Administrative: Filling employee timesheets, safety reports, and other reports as required on a digital platform;
- Supervise workers in a professional and respectful manner;
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience with road construction and minimum 3 years experience in supervising crews is required;
- Thorough knowledge and experience of road base construction process for municipal and commercial sites including residential subdivisions is required;
- Must be proficient in the use of computers;
- Ability to return an acceptable drug & alcohol test result that meets our hiring guidelines is required;
- Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under the pressures associated with the job is required;
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license or above with a clean driver’s abstract;
- Ability to construct roads & parking lots to acceptable engineering standards and ready for asphalt or concrete placement in keeping with established timelines is required;
- High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to follow directions are required;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently with little supervision is highly desirable;
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends is required;
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills is highly desirable;
- Must possess a minimum 2 years of experience in operation of finish graders and related equipment, for example**, the ability to finish grade within a 2 cm tolerance**;
- Knowledge of Topcon grading system will be an asset;
- High attention to detail and professional communication skills with personnel, coworkers and clients are required.
