**Overall Mandate**:
It is the function of the maintenance crew to ensure that all the machinery and refrigeration of the Association is maintained in working order and are operating within safe operational guidelines.
The primary function of this individual, under the direction of the Head of Maintenance, will be to monitor, repair, and make suggestions to the proper functionality of the storage refrigeration systems. They will also be responsible for working within the maintenance crew regarding the execution of operations of the OPRP on the production line, ensuring that it is running effectively and within the operational guidelines, and that if any deviations are to occur, they are to notify the Quality Assurance Supervisor & HACCP/Food Safety Coordinator.
Under the direction of the Head of Maintenance, this individual will also work with the Production Supervisor who will delegate work during any down time (maintenance related or seasonal) ensuring preventative maintenance and general upkeep of the plant is completed, when pack days services are required. This position is also responsible for following the directives of the Head of Maintenance and the Production Supervisor to oversee the annual testing and maintenance of all plant storage rooms prior to the harvest season.

- Ensures that all the equipment is working to always achieve food safety and has authority to initiate and document action regarding quality and food safety. This individual will support all staff to contribute to the effectiveness of the overall operation of the company.

- Maintenance Crew members must identify any negative environmental effects that any piece of machinery or refrigeration could have on the environment over which they can be expected to have an influence, and report that to the Head of Maintenance.
**Organization**:
- Identify and address all machinery functionality for optimal performance and safety.
**Problem Solving**:
- Ability to identify the root cause and effect of a problem or mechanical failure within a chain of events. Recognize the impact that a breakdown to one element or piece of equipment has on the surrounding elements of the line.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and control all aspects of the refrigeration systems for climate control within a pressurized storage facility across multiple sites.
- Work with controlled atmosphere/low oxygen storage facility with safety and quality at the forefront.
- Operate automated or computerized control systems, stationary engines and auxiliary equipment such as reactors, boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, pollution control devices and other equipment to generate electrical power and to provide light, heat, ventilation and refrigeration for buildings, industrial plants and other work sites.
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective action and minor repairs to prevent equipment or system failure or make suggestions and proactively see solutions for repair.
- Operating/monitoring of industrial ammonia and/or freon refrigeration systems.
- Working with outside contractors and/or vendors, including fire department, food safety personnel, and inspectors.
- Communicate with the Head of Maintenance on purchasing and procurement of supplies.
- Perform facility inspections on a regular basis and escalate any issue to involve other members of the maintenance or management team when necessary.
- Completion of daily refrigeration system readings and daily logbook records.
- Responsible for daily refrigeration operator duties including inspections and logs.
- Support all staff to contribute to the efficiency of the production line and the effectiveness of the food safety management system.
- Complete preventative maintenance on plant machinery and buildings as required.
- Report to various areas of the production line and facility as needed to address malfunctions, breakdowns, and issues as they arise.
- Organizing and meeting with contractors as required throughout the operation.
- Work with the other members of the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and work towards common goals and productive outcomes.
- Comply with the health and safety program and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety procedures
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and functional to meet safety standards.
- All maintenance work and lockout procedures conducted on equipment is performed in a safe manner and is compliant with the policies and procedures within the health and safety program.
- Aware of safety hazards within the department and report them appropriately and/ or make arrangements to fix them.
- Inform appropriate supervisory staff if equipment is unsafe for use and isolate and restrict use of the equipment as necessary until repairs can be made.
