Toronto, Canada Alzheimer Society of Ontario Full time

**Our Organization**

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario (ASO) is a provincial organization dedicated to supporting Ontarians living with dementia and their care partners. ASO is structured as a federation and works collaboratively with our provincial federation partners as well as our federal partner - the Alzheimer Society of Canada (ASC). Additionally, ASO supports local Societies across the province, ensuring the highest quality of care and support.

**Our Mission**

To alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and to promote research.

**Our Strategic Priorities**

The external environment in which we operate is undergoing unprecedented change, with the healthcare system in crisis and the incidence of dementia growing. Disease-modifying therapies are expected to become available soon, yet our services remain inaccessible to many who need them. Additionally, evidence highlights that 50% of dementia cases can be prevented or significantly delayed through lifestyle modifications. To address these challenges and position ourselves for success, our strategic priorities include fostering partnerships to enhance care and support, advocating for equitable access to resources, and increasing public awareness to reduce stigma and promote prevention across all communities.

**Our Role**

To benefit individuals and families affected by dementia, ASO provides leadership, resources, and delivers essential support through the design and evaluation of programs at the local Society level across Ontario. ASO also advocates to influence policies, spearheads fundraising initiatives and collaborative opportunities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across the province. At the national table we represent the interests of Ontarians.

Directors can also bring significant value to the Board through their willingness to develop and take on leadership roles within the Board and/or its committees, and are asked to contribute to at least one of the following committees:

- Finance and Audit Committee
- Governance Committee
- Nomination Committee (ad hoc)
- Other ad hoc committees, as required

Directors are strongly encouraged to make a financial contribution to the organization.

**Our Commitment to Equitable Recruitment**

ASO is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve. Our organization is committed to health equity and the inclusion of all people, and we have made both public and organizational commitments to embracing equity as a core value.
