Under the direction and support of the Executive Chef, a typical day in this role may look like:
- Preparing ingredients for cooking menu items, including portioning, chopping and storing food.
- Preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards
- Continually striving to improve food preparation and presentations
- Working together with the Executive Chef and other leaders in maintaining proper inventory controls of food, supplies and equipment through consistent monitoring of inventory levels, food cost controls and the strategic assessment of the food product versus value perceived.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Supporting a safe work environment by working in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Safe operation of standard kitchen equipment
- Assisting in the development and training of Second and Third Cooks
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism and quality service.
- Communicating effectively with associates, leaders within all hotel departments.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years related experience.
- Basic Culinary Training and Valid Food Safe Certification required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Team player who is able to work independently and effectively as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
- Flexible schedule.
