**As the **_Clerk A - Billing Clerk_**_ _**you will**:

- Update customer’s account in the Department’s billing system. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

- Entering remarks on customer accounts.
- Entering customer information into the billing system.
- Billing accounts up to date using actual meter readings.
- Uploading electronic files to the billing system from various sources.
- Obtain meter readings to initiate new accounts: to finalize accounts and for quarterly billing.
- Prepare daily billing production output (bills, notices and meter reading request cards) for mailing.
- Update accounts to reflect Manitoba Family Services is paying the water bill on behalf of the customer.
- Process returned mail.
- Provide internal courier services to branch offices.
- Provide coverage to other clerical staff within the branch, as required.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the classification, as assigned.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- High School diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by formal training in business and office procedures or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Prior experience working in an office environment.
- Demonstrated ability to type accurately at 40 wpm (net).
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer working in a Windows environment. Experience working with various software packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and Synergen at a basic level.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an organized manner and to prioritize work to meet deadlines and established performance standards of productivity and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and an efficient filing system.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, ideas and information to customers and internal staff.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instruction, exercising sound judgment with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
- General knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to dealing with sensitive documents.
