**Position Title**: Marine & Yard Attendant
**Reports To**: Marine & Yard Supervisor and/or Senior Manager
- Membership Services
**Job Status**: Full-time seasonal roles available (mid-April through end of October)
**Hours/Week**: 30-40 hours/week with flexibility, including evenings, weekends, holidays
**Compensation**: Competitive hourly wage, 50% off meals, paid breaks, free parking
**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Marine & Yard Attendant role is seasonal role at National Yacht Club, made up of up to 4-5
summer staff responsible for water taxi service, harbour operations, and yard/facility
maintenance. The incumbent(s) must demonstrate a strong work ethic, work well
independently, multi-task, has a dedication to customer service, is reliable and self motived. The
incumbent reports directly to the Marine & Yard Supervisor and/or Senior Manager,
Membership Services (depending who is on-site at the time) and has a strong working
relationship with all Managers on staff.
**PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**WATER TAXI & HARBOUR**
- Operate water taxi from 8:00am-10:00pm daily in 6-9 hours shifts, bringing members to
and from their boats in the mooring field
- Ensure water taxi vessel is properly stocked with all safety equipment, lines, full gas
tank, oil level, motor is functional
- Complete familiarization with dock system & swing mooring field
- Complete familiarization with reciprocal yacht club list
- Encourage members to sign-out when they are cruising for an extended period of time
- Assign visitor slips, welcome visitors and give them a tour/explain any rules
- Utilize marine radio using phonetic alphabet
- Collect funds for ice sales, monitor ice levels
- Sign-out various keys to members for pump-out and cranes and club fleet
- Check fuel in all Club boats, re-fuel
- Perform daily dock checks to ensure boats are in correct slips, lines are tied, docks are
- generally in safe condition, listen for water line breaks, etc
- Perform daily check of swing mooring field
- Clean off dinghy boat ramp each morning, and mid-afternoon/evening as required
- Collect weeds in basin
- Open & close building daily
- Other duties as assigned
**FACILITY/YARD MAINTENANCE**
- Daily garbage & recycling collection around the perimeter of the Clubhouse
- Check/replace propane at Club BBQ’s as needed
- Daily clean-up as needed based on Club scheduled events/activities, weather, and
- cleaning schedule
- Ensure all public member spaces are re-set and presentable each morning and
- throughout each day based on use
- Keep lobby tidy
- Lawn maintenance, power washing, weed whacking, watering plants, general
maintenance of the yard as assigned by the Site Manager and/or Marine & Yard
Supervisor
- Be present at some events/regattas to set-up, clean-up
- Ensure flags are up and taken down each day
- Other duties as assigned
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Hard working and reliable
- Driving/boating experience would be an asset, but we can teach you
- Valid Toronto Harbour license, Pleasure Craft Operators Card, VHF Radio license would
- be an asset
- Ability to work on own with little supervision
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
