**POSITION SCOPE**

Reporting to the NA Quality Assurance Manager, the Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing the workload of technicians. This position also provides technical support, ensures proper training is conducted and compliance within the lab.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Monitoring/tracking, analyzing and communicating laboratory results. As instructed, alert upper management, production and technical services team on quality irregularities in raw materials, production and laboratory performance. This includes the timely review of quality data for trends and proactively communicate issues that have the potential to impact quality.
- Manage laboratory supplies (procurement and inventory) and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure that the laboratory is operated with attention to safety while still maintaining quality standards.
- Ensuring adherence to the Laboratory Quality Manual.
- Drive quality improvements and safe laboratory operations.
- Ensuring the efficient storage and effective retrieval of quality data.
- Provide timely feedback to lab technicians
- Manage the implementation of new ideas and protocols aimed to improve lab efficiency, testing standardization and data quality
- Management of different simultaneous projects
- Provide value-added quality control and assurance activities beyond analytical result generation that include data analysis and solutions to lab data quality issues.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
- Experience with managing personnel.
- Must have 2 to 3 years’ experience working in an analytical lab, with advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Must have worked in a laboratory environment within the previous 2 years.
- Must have previous experience running a GC, and/or other advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Must be proficient in the use of a computer, skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to proactively identify potential solutions.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
- First Aid/CPR Training considered an asset
- Previous experience working in a A2LA/CALA accredited laboratory considered an asset

**EDUCATION**

A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in a chemistry related field. A diploma in a lab technology related field may be considered, if based in the study of a pure chemistry.
