**JOB SUMMARY**
- The mandate of Parks, Forestry and Stormwater Services is to provide municipal drainage, laboratory testing services for drinking water, solid wastes, effluents, receiving waters and ground waters, stormwater management, engineering and environmental monitoring, parks (including lawn, landscaping, play structures, outdoor field maintenance, and winter maintenance services) and forestry (municipal forests, street and park trees) services in the City of Ottawa. Services and programs are designed to provide a one-stop shop for Ottawa residents, where they can access educational (by-laws and standards), preventative (home owners and landlords) and maintenance service requests (general public) within the service group.
- You are responsible for carrying out landscape maintenance activities within assigned parks.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- High School Student - minimum completion of Grade 10
- Minimum of 1 year but less than 2 years of related experience is required, including horticulture experience

**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Must possess the training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and its performance.
- Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures.

**COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Ability and willingness to operate small and light equipment (e.g. push/ride on lawnmower, trimmer, leaf blower, truck/trailer combo, etc.) Ability and willingness to lift heavy objects

**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
