**New View Society is seeking a qualified individual as a Resident Support Worker**
**(New View Housing Support Required)**
**Hours**:37.5 hours per week, Regular/Permanent Full-time, (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm) occasional evenings and weekends may be required
**Position Overview**:
The Iris House Resident Support Worker House Coordinator role ensures the well-being of clients in a group home environment and promotes their ongoing development. This role assists clients in their physical, social, emotional, and daily life skills development and increase their independence and ability to function within the community including: provides support to clients including crisis intervention, behavior management, and life skills training, on a one-to-one basis or in a group environment; plans, develops, implements and evaluates recreational, social and/or educational activities for clients; strives to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to encourage client participation. This role is also responsible for: coordinating programs at Iris House, staff scheduling, ensuring guidelines and polices are followed; and tenant assessments and required forms are completed.
**Responsibilities include but not limited to**:
1. Provides support to clients in a tertiary care setting, their own homes/program and in the community to allow them to function more safely and independently. Facilitates physical, recreational, social, and educational activities. Provides clients with a positive role model.
2. Identifies social, economic, recreational, and educational services in the community to meet clients’ needs; participates in group planning and helps develop individual activity plans which focus on the special needs of each client served by the home/program.
3. Recognizes potential crisis or emergency situations, analyzes, and develops strategies to deal with such situations to ensure no harm to the client staff and/or the public and informs management or other key stakeholders when such incidents arise. Assists case management team in identifying potential problems and provides input to counselors and other professionals to develop client program plans.
4. Provides support and life skills training to clients; monitors clients’ well-being and assists with daily life skills and/or behavior management training, basic cooking. personal hygiene, life skills etc.; assists clients in attending appointments and provides transportation, when required. Determines appropriate care and participates in case planning.
5. Works closely with the New View team to provide training, coaching, encouragement, and assistance for clients. Ensures effective operation of Iris House and that client needs are met. Coordinates and organizes specific work areas and encourages clients to participate in activities; observes the skill level of individual clients and supports modifications to their goals, as needed; schedules shifts; organizes and establishes regular routines, implements specific goals, and regularly assesses progress; ensures programs follow appropriate guidelines and policies. Reviews effectiveness of processes and recommends changes to enhance the client experience and maximize efficiency.
6. Conducts intake interviews, completes tenant and financial assessments, and completes any paperwork required; schedules staff to ensure sufficient coverage is provided; prepares required regulatory reports and any management or board reports, as required.
7. Ensures that all requirements are maintained to provide safe transportation, proper driver’s license, car maintenance etc. Maintains up to date knowledge of building fire regulations and procedures and other emergency procedures; ensures all health and safety standards are maintained.
8. Maintains written records regarding client activities and progress and ensures all required documentation is up to date and accurate.
9. Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community; monitors progress and well-being of clients and assists case management team in evaluating the effectiveness of programs, counselling, and support.
10. Monitors clients and provides medical reminders; discuss’ importance of medication and how it contributes to wellness along with other strategies. Reports to clinical body when concerned about the status of a client’s medication regime.
11. Provides support to clients in managing their finances by conducting transactions related to petty cash, client accounts, collecting rents and money for personal and making deposits or withdrawals.
12. Performs other duties, as assigned
**Qualifications/Requirements**:

3. Restricted Class 4 BC Driver’s License is REQUIRED
