**HR Manager, Health, Well-Being, and Benefits**:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Manager, Health, Well-Being and Benefits oversees the strategic management of employee well-being initiatives, health promotion, occupational and non-occupational disability management, and benefits administration. This position assumes a lead role in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of a health and well-being strategy to support the achievement of VIU’s mission, goals, and objectives. The Manager leads the Employee Health, Well-Being, and Benefits team, with a strong focus on fostering a healthy workplace culture while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and collective agreements provisions. This position will handle sensitive and complex processes and work closely with employees at all levels of the institution, following established procedures to provide a high level of communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The Manager is responsible for setting the strategic priorities for the Health, Well-Being and Benefits team ensuring alignment with HR’s strategic direction

- Excluded Pay Band 10: Minimum salary is $104,043 and maximum salary is $118,231.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Health and Well-Being**
- Oversee the ongoing development and rollout of the employee well-being strategy, in alignment with the VIU Strategic Plan and People Plan.
- Ensure that plans and initiatives provide employees with the resources, activities, and supports required to make healthy lifestyle choices, resulting in the enhancement of their professional and personal well-being.
- Collaborate with HR, leadership, and other departments to promote a culture of well-being across the institution and develop institutional capacity to support employee well-being through coordination of initiatives and resources to train leaders and employees.
- Partner with internal communications to develop and promote well-being initiatives.
- Ensure that employees can access information/services in a manner that is friendly, confidential, valued, and timely.
- Recommend an annual budget for Health and Wellness promotion based on established budget allocation.
- Responsible for all contracts and activities related to employee well-being initiatives, disability management, benefits administration, health promotion and the associated budget.
- Support the VIU-wide well-being strategy that includes a holistic approach to innovations in health promotion and education, intervention, well-being identification, response processes and resourcing.
- Identify employee health promotion program needs, based on internal data tracking and analyses, employee feedback mechanisms, program evaluation, and trend analysis information gathered from insurer and service provider reports.
- Design, deliver and coordinate workshops, seminars, and resources focused on multiple well-being dimensions.
- Serve as a Risk and Threat Assessment Team (RTAT) committee member; take an active role for at-risk behaviour and violence response and prevention.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness initiatives, adjusting as necessary.
- Keep abreast of current and future trends to develop proactive initiatives to optimally support employee health and overall well-being.
- Manage content of communications to managers and employees regarding health, well-being and benefits, including overseeing the team web pages.
- Communicate with the VIU community about changes to benefits, new benefits offerings, and Employee and Family Assistance newsletters.
- Create clear, engaging, and audience-specific written communications that inform, inspire, and encourage employees to participate in well-being initiatives.
- Promote awareness of mental health resources, with an emphasis on reduction of stigma/discrimination and enhancement of an inclusive culture.
- Serve as HR lead on various committees, internal and external to VIU.
- Advocate for inclusivity and accessibility in all well-being initiatives.

**Disability Management**
- Provide leadership for and collaborate with the Disability Management Specialist while maintaining
