Job Summary:
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Reporting directly to the Drilling Solutions Operations Supervisor the PLC Specialist will:

- Assist in the development of control systems for drilling rigs
- Deploy and commission PLC based control systems on drilling rigs globally as an individual or as part of a team (this will require travel to field locations)
- Provide remote technical support to end users and field technicians
- Assist in the deployment and support of remote access communications systems
- Maintain professional attitude while working in intense environments with internal and external customers
- Capture specifications and user requirements
- Work with engineering and operations to determine detailed design and best practices

Qualifications:

- Proficient in PLC programming software suites including: Siemens TIA Portal, Omron CX- One, Allen-Bradley Rockwell Studio 5000, and/or GE Proficy
- HMI development experience with at least one of the following: Ignition by Inductive Automation, PanelView, CX-designer, and GE Cimplicity
- Posses a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Posses or able to obtain a Canadian passport
- Able to perform physically demanding work including climbing several flights of stairs, working at heights, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50lbs

- Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Be able and willing to travel globally to the field or other office locations as required (up to 50% travel may be required)

Education and Experience:
**Education**:

- Accredited technical degree or bachelor’s in an engineering-based discipline
- 5 years of direct PLC based programming and commissioning experience in industrial or oil & gas environments considered in lieu of a degree

**Experience**:

- Minimum five years working with at least one of the following PLC systems: Siemens, GE, Omron, and/or Allen-Bradley
- Experience and familiarity working with SCRs, VFDs, MCCs, and control system network interfaces preferred
