Your Opportunity:
The Unit Manager (UM) for Labour & Delivery/ Postpartum/Antepartum services in Women’s Health is a crucial leadership role, reporting directly to the Patient Care Manager of Obstetrics. The UM is responsible for the overall performance of L&D/ Postpartum/Antepartum services, ensuring the delivery of safe patient care to mother/baby dyads during their Postpartum stay. The UM provides operational leadership and decision-making support in areas such as direct patient care, staffing, attendance management, and education. They lead the L&D/ Postpartum/Antepartum personnel, including nursing and support staff, facilitating and sustaining the learning needs of all staff to optimize their professional and clinical development. Additionally, the UM identifies budget requirements for the unit, including human, material, and capital resources, to safely meet both unit and patient needs while optimizing workflow. They resolve complex and challenging problems related to human resources management and staffing levels in a unionized environment, ensuring that adequate service levels are maintained. Furthermore, the UM develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders to provide optimal and integrated services.
Description:
The SCH Obstetrics Program offers comprehensive services to low-risk obstetrical patients, delivering over 2,700 mothers annually. The Unit Manager (UM) for Labour & Delivery/ Postpartum/Antepartum is accountable for the overall performance of these services. They ensure the delivery of safe patient care to mother/baby dyads during their postpartum stay and foster team/group effectiveness by modeling excellent clinical practice and interpersonal relationships. The UM plays a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services (AHS).

**Required Qualifications**:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Labour & Delivery/Postpartum, or previous management experience in Obstetrics. Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
