**PURPOSE**:
The Quality Inspector will perform and document inspections and quality surveillances to ensure all manufacturing activities comply with the requirements of the company Quality Management System and ISO 9001. Reporting directly to the QA/QC Manager this position is responsible for all quality activities related to the manufacturing department. The job duties include:
- Complete receiving inspections on raw products and materials to verify the documentation and dimensions meet the requirements of the purchase order, applicable standards and quality procedures
- Verify raw material condition, grade, specification, marking and heat number
- Verify heat numbers are consistent with Material Testing Reports (MTR’s) provided by supplier and retain copies of MTR’s in proper locations for reference and retrieval
- Complete first off inspection at the beginning of each production line run and sampling inspections thereafter as per quality requirements
- Ensure that all heat numbers are being properly transferred from raw materials to the work order in order to accurately track MTR documentation for all completed product
- Complete verification of final products and label them based on the requirements of the work order and/or shop drawing
- Complete visual inspections on welds to ensure compliance with internal Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) acceptance criteria
- Review and retain the records of finished work order packages and ensure all operations were completed properly
- Interface with shift foreman on quality issues to ensure compliance
- Conduct in-house calibrations and maintain measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Participate in internal audit and ensure shop performance complies with applicable standards and procedures
- Ensure that non-conforming products are identified, recorded, and controlled
- Maintain inspection records and initiate nonconformity reports
- Responsible for the safety of self and others
- Other related duties as required
**Education/Experience Requirements**
- 1+ years of Quality Management System exposure, training and/or education
- 1+ years of experience as a QC Inspector in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of material specification, such as ASTM, CSA, etc.
- Hands-on experience with measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers and micrometers
- Solid understanding of technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering or a Journeyman Certification in a mechanical trade from a recognized provincial training authority an asset
- CSA 178.2 Level 1 Welding Inspector Certification an asset
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
- Fast paced, high volume production facility
- Moderate to high noise level
- Physically demanding with constant lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Temperatures contingent upon weather
**LOCATION**:
Acheson (West Edmonton), AB and jobs located throughout western Canada
