Gomaco Operator

This position’s main purpose is to use the Gomaco Machine to extrude concrete for all types of sidewalks, curbs, swales, walls, etc. The Gomaco Operator is also to actively promote and participate in Goal Zero Initiative.

**Duties/Tasks**:

- Positively participate in company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements.
- Mounting and dismounting of forms and trimmers.
- Setting up machines according to string line offsets.
- Hooking up of vibrators and hoses for forms and trimmers.
- Getting machines ready before extruding and cleaning the machines after extruding.
- Trimming off stringline prior to pouring.
- It is the responsibility of the operator to keep machines clean at all times.
- Other duties as required.

**Knowledge/Skills**:

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and develop new skills as required for the role.
- Must have the ability to train others.
- Must be able to work in a physically demanding role which requires repetitive tasks such as balancing, heavy lifting, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, reaching and manual dexterity over extended periods of time.
- Must have good vision, stamina, good hand eye coordination and an ability to estimate size and dimensions.
- Must have strong regard for ethics.
- Ability to read construction plans is an asset.
- Ability to utilize various hand tools.

**Experience/Education**
- Concrete Finishing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Gomaco operation and working with the concrete crews.
- Minimum 3 years of municipal road building industry experience.
- Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5), with own transportation.

**Working Conditions**:

- Overtime as required.
- Work outdoors in a dusty and noisy construction environment.
- Ability to work outdoors and tolerate adverse weather conditions.
- Must be alert and able to work safely around moving road construction equipment.
- Potential to operate vehicle or equipment.
- Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
