**Standard Weekly Hours**:10 and 12 hour shifts - Midnight to Noon**

**(Friday, Saturday, Sunday = 35 hours every other weekend)**

The **Whitby Youth Transitional Housing Program** provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for male identifying youth in the Durham Region. The program focus on building life skills, including budgeting, time management, menu planning, job retention, food preparation, communication, and decision-making. Tailored counselling services address issues like anger management, substance abuse, and family relationships to help clients transition to independent living.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Service User Support**
- Provide counselling, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
- Facilitate daily living skills development and supervise residents.
- Support meal preparation, house chores, and medication administration.
- Assist with intake, move-in/out paperwork, and routine room checks.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for clients.

**Case Management & Documentation**
- Develop and implement individual Service Plans and Contact Logs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and incident reports per Ministry guidelines.
- Collaborate with community partners (e.g., Probation, Ontario Works, health providers).

**Administrative Duties**
- Follow JHS Durham policies and procedures.
- Manage cash balances, compile statistics, and update records.
- Attend staff and agency meetings as assigned.

**Community Engagement**
- Represent JHS Durham in the community when required.
- Collaborate with schools, CAS, Probation, and other partners.

**Requirements**:

- **Education**: Minimum two-year Social Service Worker Diploma.
- **Experience**: Work with at-risk teens in a residential setting.
- **Certifications**: Valid Class G driver’s license with $2M liability insurance, First Aid/CPR.
- **Assets**: Crisis Intervention and ASIST certification.
- **Required**: Satisfactory Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and Children’s Aid Society screening.
- Education and learning barriers.
- Substance use and family relationship issues.
- Cultural or religious prejudices, and gender identity/expression.
- Experiences with systems like Child Welfare and Criminal Justice.

**Working Conditions**
- Alternating weekends with shifts of 10 and 12 hours (overnight and weekend).
- Physical demands may include standing, walking, and lifting up to 25lbs.
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
- Interacts with the public, clients, staff, visitors, and staff from other organizations.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Flexible hours as required.
