**POSITION TITLE**:Telecom Construction Technicians/Labourers

**LOCATION: Oshawa/Port Perry area**

**REPORTS TO**:General Manager

**Rate of Pay**: $20-25/hour

**SUMMARY: Total Cable Contracting Inc., is the fibre optic construction division of Vianet, a telecom provider that builds, owns, and operates fibre optic and wireless broadband networks across Ontario and has been in business for over thirty years.**

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Safely operate a variety of trucks and construction equipment as required. Mini excavator expereince as an asset
- Read and properly interpret utility locates
- Assist with aspects of the fibre optic construction process (HDD trenching, fibre installation etc.) as directed by General Manager
- Assist the crew with restoration of work areas including backfilling holes and spreading topsoil by hand.
- Assist with installation of cable into underground conduit systems.
- Assist all crew members as needed and requested.
- Perform different construction tasks using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and related construction tools.
- Assist in transporting, loading, and unloading materials and tools.
- Communicate with co-workers for prep work and project coordination.
- Regularly perform health and safety inspection of equipment and tools

**EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Previous field experience in the telecommunication industry
- Valid class G driver’s license with clean abstract
- Ability to perform physical labour for extended periods.
- An upbeat attitude with a positive approach to work, punctual and reliable
- AZ or ARZ lisence an asset
- A team player with the ability to work well with others and assist other field crew members when needed.
- Able to work extended hours as required and, in all weather conditions.
- Ensure the safety of the job site and maintain equipment.
- Book 7 knowledge an asset.
