Maintenance Technician/apprentice

**Position Description**:

- Perform mechanical preventative maintenance of equipment and facility
- Utilize CMMS software to document and maintains details of work orders
- Reports Maintenance Inventory requirements to Maintenance Supervisor
- Perform mechanical preventative maintenance of equipment and facility
- Responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment to maximize operating reliability (ie: CNC Machines, Lasers, Presses and overhead cranes,)
- Perform maintenance on all equipment as required
- All Maintenance personnel reports to Maintenance Supervisor
- Possess troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both mechanical and electrical issues
- Overtime or ‘off hours’ may be required on occasion
- Must have attention to details, immediate deadlines and able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be capable of working in a team environment and/or solely to achieve effective goal

**Qualifications**:

- Industrial Mechanical experience is an asset
- Alternate skilled trades will be considered
- Skillfully and efficiently able to maintain and repair production/manufacturing equipment
- Able to clearly communicate with others and have good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments and to complete the work safely
- Excellent safety skills required (ie: lockout/tag-out safety procedures, working with electricity etc)
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment or individually
- Good physical capability and a “can do” attitude is a definite asset

**Work Conditions**:
This is a physical position that requires:

- Continuous standing for extended periods of time
- Some heavy lifting, carrying and handling of objects.
- Regular use of hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, bending/stretching, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, walking, pushing/pulling
- Repetitive motion and other job specific requirements
- Precise hand/finger movements
- **Physical Environment**: exposure to factors such as temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, loud noise, and dirty environments.
- **Sensory Attention**: Need to give close attention with hearing or seeing to work surroundings. Must be able to handle exposure to different smells that may occur in the workplace.
- **Must be able to wear prescribed PPE that the company requires **safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots/shoes and respiratory protection (depending upon job) etc.
- **Must agree to wear all Company provided PPE** such as respiratory protection, fall arrest equipment, protective coveralls, etc. to safely execute some tasks.
- **Safety Sensitive Position**: This position is a safety sensitive position and if it is not performed in a safe manner, can cause direct and significant damage to property, and/or injury to the employee and others around them.

**Requirements**:

- All new employees are required to provide an original Police Record Check,
- Proof of Secondary School Diploma,
- A valid driver’s license or transportation required, as this position is located in Cathcart, and is **not** on a public bus route
- Personal tool inventory for daily use.
- Must be available to do in-person interview
