**JOB SUMMARY**

The **Dining Room Supervisor** will provide leadership to the dietary aide team while building a talent pool within the department to ensure the Waterford’s standards are met to create a fine dining atmosphere and delivery of meals while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist with the planning and promotion and to attend all gourmets, special functions and events at the Waterford Retirement Community as requested by the Dietary Service Coordinator
- Establish shift routines and responsibilities and offer direction and assist with tasks including food service and cleaning to ensure an immaculate, attractive, and healthy environment
- Report resident absences to the receptionist at meals times
- Ensure that the Bistro is neat, clean, and well stocked at all times
- Actively participate in initiatives to enhance the enjoyment and quality of life for our residents
- Meet with nursing and dietary staff to assure implementation of therapeutic diets as ordered by physicians
- Maintains dietary records on Nutritional Profile within 72 hours of resident admission and as needed
- Work in co-operation with the General Manager to hire, direct, reprimand, suspend or discharge employees
- Provides job analysis and role functions for dietary aides within their scope of practices
- Ensures availability and maintenance of dietary supplies and equipment and submits requisitions as necessary
- Meets with residents/family to identify and if appropriate resolve problems/concerns/complaints and concerns
- Attends Resident Food Committee meetings as requested, to discuss concerns/complaints/suggestions
- Attends in-services as needed to better understand the food services needs of the residents and to increase own abilities

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Training and experience in a supervisory role fostering teamwork among staff
- Training and experience in efficient food service delivery processes and procedures and as a waiter/waitress in a busy environment
- A working knowledge of common and special dietary needs of seniors
- Training and certification in food service handling
- Must have experience working with seniors, and must have empathy for them and an understanding of their needs
- Skill in planning, co-coordinating, and supervising comprehensive dietary programs
