Job Summary
The Research Coordinator is responsible for supporting research initiatives for the Mulpuri Lab (HIPpy Lab) at the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute. Responsibilities will include research project administration, grant administration and facilitation, supporting research operations, coordinating knowledge translation and outreach activities, research ethics and regulatory administration, and finance administration.

The UBC Department of Orthopaedics has an international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and patient care. Our mission is to create knowledge, advance learning, and improve musculoskeletal health for the community at the provincial, national, and international levels. The Department consists of seven clinical divisions and a division of orthopaedic research, and is comprised of 200+ academic and clinical faculty who choose to contribute large blocks of their time to advance knowledge in the areas of clinical orthopaedics, musculoskeletal science as well as applied biomedical engineering and related basic science areas. This focus allows the Department to be at the forefront of exciting new developments in the areas of mínimally invasive joint replacement, improved bone healing, advanced techniques in spinal surgery, innovative arthroscopic techniques, and improved biomaterials and implants.
The HIPpy Research Team works to create and catalyze efforts to promote pediatric orthopedic health both in-province, and in a global-health context. Work centers around prospective, longitudinal registries and the development of region-specific and culturally appropriate care pathways. HIPpy hosts some of the world's largest pediatric hip registries and are continuing to grow this reach. A primary area of focus is to develop existing partnerships, and to expand the number of partnerships with orthopedic centres in China in our prospective registries, with the intention to collaborate in the establishment of care pathways for pediatric hip conditions in China. This team is supported by the UBC Department of Orthopedics, which has an international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and patient care.
The incumbent reports to the Principal Investigator and has working relationships with the Lab Directors, as well as clinicians, faculty, staff and students within the lab and department.
Work Performed
Coordinates the preparation and submission of research related regulatory documents (ethics, permits, etc.).
Coordinates and facilitates patient recruitment, as well as data collection, management, and reporting.
Supports systems administration (including registry user access) and basic systems development and sustainment (including survey requirements, development, and testing).
Supports research project administration by assisting with recruitment, facilitating onboarding, and supporting collaborating sites.
Maintains research agreements and key relationship information, as well as coordinating project updates to various participants and stakeholders.
Facilitates and supports recruitment, training, and supervision of student and other team members.
Researches and determines the applicability of new technology and systems related to research being done.
Facilitates project communication, tracking and updates among lab and project teams. Actively supports social media initiatives of the Lab and related programs.
Manages shared team resources such as team calendars, activity trackers, file repositories, etc.
Assists with preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication.
Troubleshoots and assesses the maintenance and usage of research infrastructure, as well as coordinates purchasing of shared research infrastructure.
Assists with lab and program communications, including presentations, newsletters, webpages, and preparing information on research programs for media, fundraising organizations, and potential donors.
Processes finance paperwork for accounts within UBC and PHSA (JVs, Qreqs, outside invoices
