**Position Summary and Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Seasonal Labourer
- Parks will be responsible to perform winter maintenance including snow clearing/hauling/removal and winter salting operations. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintenance, construction and/or repair work related to parks, open spaces, water courses, sports fields, daily tree maintenance, pruning, outdoor ice rink maintenance, garbage collection and event set ups.

**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated experience in parks maintenance and construction, arboriculture, horticulture, and winter maintenance.
- Possess working knowledge of parks-related equipment operation and maintenance and the ability to operate various tractors and loaders with attachments, pick up trucks with plows and tree pruning equipment.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with staff and the general public and work well under direction and also take initiative to respond appropriately to situations.
- Ability to read, comprehend and understand WHMIS labels, equipment manuals, complete logs and incident reports to fulfil health and safety obligations. Must have a practical working knowledge of health and safety regulations, and procedures.
- Standby/on call is a mandatory requirement of this position and must be available to work days, afternoons, evenings and weekends including 24-hour on-call, as scheduled.
- A Class G driver’s license in good standing is required. A DZ license would be considered an asset.

Successful applicants to this position will be required to provide a **Police Criminal Record Check, Driver’s Abstract and CVOR Abstract** that is satisfactory to the Town prior to their start date at the applicants’ own cost.
