**Reports To**:
Extrusion Operators will report to the Extrusion, Slitting and Lamination Manager.

Job Summary
The main function of Extrusion Operators is to run the extruders to produce polyethylene film for the other departments in the plant such as printing and laminating. Extrusion Operators need to familiarize themselves with the orders they are currently running as well as upcoming orders to ensure they have all materials required to complete the order to match the specifications on the docket.

Understanding Inspection Procedures (IP’s) and Operating Procedures (OP’s) is important to ensuring the product and procedures meet Tempo’s internal requirements. Maintaining a high quality output is essential to overall product quality while also following all safety procedures and protocols.

Extrusion Operators often assist other departments, such as slitting and converting, when time permits.

**Responsibilities**:

- Read the log book at the beginning of shift to learn about any updates or useful information being passed along from the previous shifts.
- Monitor the extruders noting the heats, drive amps, any leaks in the dies, air ring pressure and/or leaks and blower settings.
- General housekeeping of the extrusion area such as, but not limited to, cleaning the floor, nips, rolls, die, etc.
- Follow IP’s and OP’s, including those provided under the FSSC 22 000 standards; follow WHMIS for product used within the department.
- Cut cores for both slitting and extrusion and assist the Slitter Operator and conduct buddy checks when possible.
- Bring rolls to Slitter Operator using the lift truck.
- Assist the converting department with sorting defective bags and completing the accompanying paperwork.
- Perform minor machine repairs; report malfunctions of machinery and/or equipment to management; fill out necessary work orders for maintenance; assist with preventative maintenance measures.
- Confirm extruders have the necessary tools and/or equipment at all times.

Job Duties
- Inspect all rolls off of each extruder; check roll geometry; check die and screen packs for leaks.
- Put up and take down the bubble correctly following the IP’s and OP’s.
- Hook up smart panel connecting all hoppers to the correct locations.
- Set up current and upcoming orders ensuring resin blend percentage, size, gauge, speeds, heats and bubbles are in accordance with the OP’s and IP’s and coincide with the requirements on the docket.
- Adjust treat fingers for film; ensure additive wands are placed into the correct additive; clean lines in between orders.
- Confirm that the right cores are prepared for the upcoming orders.
- Troubleshoot any issues with the bubble or film (i.e. wrinkles) that arise during the production process.
- Perform screen changes.
- Thread film; unload rolls from winders using lift trucks.
- Obtain the skid required for the order; place rolls on skids, wrap and label; put skids away using the lift truck.
- Change boxes if empty.
- Complete the appropriate paperwork accompanying each order.
- Enter order information into TORI and/or ABS system such as roll weights, scrap, times, roll footage, etc.
- Maintain recycling program for select extruders.
- Occasionally assist with shipping/receiving.
- Any other duties as requested by the Extrusion and Slitting Manager.
