**Part Time Direct Support Professional - Adult/Elder Community Connections**

**Summary Statement**:
Mary Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization reflecting the values and traditions consistent with Catholic social teachings. Mary Centre is a community-based organization that provides support services designed to enhance the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities and their families. For many years, Mary Centre has been helping people with developmental disabilities to work towards greater self-confidence and personal independence so they can take part in fulfilling educational, employment and life experiences.

Mary Centre is currently seeking to fill Part Time Direct Support Professional - Elder/Adult Community Connections positions. The Direct Support Professional will provide direct care, support, and for people with a developmental disability living in a community setting according to the mission, values, and principles of Mary Centre.

**Location**: Peel Region
**Reports To**: Program Coordinator
**Working Conditions**: Flexible hours per week, which may include days,
evenings, weekends and holidays. Can have multiple work locations.

**Qualifications**
Community College Diploma in Developmental Services or related University or College Degree in Social or Health services. Minimum two (2) years’ experience working or volunteering with people with a developmental disability.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Possess a Valid Ontario Driver’s License class G
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Valid Designated Physical Restraints Training Program Certificate
- Computer Skills - Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to teach life skills and work with mínimal supervision
- Clear vulnerable sector police check
- Acceptable proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be provided

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To maintain a case load as designated by the Program Coordinator or designate, providing support guidance and education to each person ensuring ample opportunity for maximum independence in all areas of life.
- To support the people to self-determine their life plan and build self-esteem through positive connections in the community.
- Supporting people to access educational, vocational, volunteer and day programs, determining the person’s level of need and support required achieving intended goal.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
- Professionalism, exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
- Must be able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team, share information in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner
- Experience working with people with a Dual Diagnosis, Behavioral Challenges, and medical issues
- Knowledge on how to implement and follow Behavior Support Plans. Provide appropriate professional understanding and intervention in response to emotional, behavioral, and physical needs of people.
- Knowledge of _**Services**_ _and _**Supports**_ _to _**Promote**_ _the _**Social Inclusion**_ _of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act,2008_ and Quality Assurance Measures
- Knowledge of Passport Funding
- Knowledge of Individual Support Plans
- Experience and ability to interact with families and community partners
- Ability to keep work environment up to Health and Safety Standards
- French language skills will be considered an asset
