**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Program Volunteer Coordinator, supervises and oversees the operation of the facility, Thunder Bay 55 Plus, in absence of the full-time staff.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Opens and closes facility as per procedures.
- Maintains a safe facility for program participants, groups, and volunteers.
- Answers telephone and counter inquiries concerning the operation and services at the facility; directs calls and messages to the appropriate person.
- Records any changes or unusual events during the absence of full-time staff.
- Caters to special requirements requested by groups or individuals renting the facility, including coffee orders, use of kitchen, and AV equipment.
- Performs clerical-related duties and computer work such as letters, posters, photocopying, facility bookings, and mail outs.
- Processes program registrations for Department programs and services.
- Prepares and balances daily cash deposits.
- Performs light cleaning duties around reception area; prepares coffee throughout the shift and keeps coffee area clean.
- Provides assistance with room set up as required; collects and washes dirty dishes from rooms; and ensures rooms are left in a tidy manner.
- Responsible for lock-up of patio furniture.
- Performs public relations functions, including conducting facility tours and providing information relating to facility programs and services and general facility information.
- Administers first aid as required, completes the necessary forms relating to unusual events/incidents/accidents; reports same to Supervisor.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

**Education/Experience**:

- Must have secondary school diploma
- Must also have some office experience, including working with a computer.

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
- Must show a high interest in working with older adults
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to problem solve

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must have Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and valid Standard First Aid certificate
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Part-time
- Irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
