**Position Details**
This position will report to the Director of Philanthropy & Donor Relations and will primarily be responsible for managing a portfolio of scholarship, award and endowment donors. The incumbent will support prospective donors in establishing awards, as well as managing a cycle of donor communication, reporting and gift stewardship.
This position will work closely with the student awards office staff to create terms of reference for donor-funded student awards in consultation with other departments across campus.
**Duties**:
- In partnership with the various academic and business units across campus and the Scholarship and Student Finance Manager, supports the development of terms of reference and completion of all associated administrative processes and donor communications for restricted funds and trusts.
- Accountable for overseeing and ensuring continued overall revenue growth for the scholarship and award portfolio, contributing to the growth of of donor support to the University overall.
- In coordination with other Philanthropy Advisors develops and executes strategies to acknowledge donors and demonstrate the impact of their philanthropy within the assigned portfolio.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, and service to the External Relations (ER) team and campus stakeholders, on student awards, trusts, restricted funds, gifting options, agreements, etc enabling them to implement best-in-class donor experiences and develop loyal relationships with donors.
- Develops, delivers, and oversees a robust student thank you program as well as special fund and endowment fund reporting designed to foster and enhance long-term relationships with donors.
- Develops metrics, evaluates strategies, and introduces new programs as necessary to improve the donor experience.
- Analyzes data, develops, and prepares annual plans for award and endowment stewardship.
- Develops donor-focused communications leveraging storytelling to produce compelling communications that secure funds, deepen trust and connection, and demonstrate donor impact, encouraging repeat giving and building long-term relationships between donors and the University.
The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification and compensation review for Administrative Professional Officer (APO) positions. As such, the salary range currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project.
**Position Qualifications**
- Some post-secondary education required, with a University undergraduate or graduate degree preferred.
- Working towards or recognized professional fundraising designation (CFRE or equivalent) an asset.
- Minimum three years of progressive experience and demonstrated success managing fundraising and donor relations programs, with a focus on donor engagement, stewardship, or a related field.
- Proven track record in successfully developing and implementing strategic plans, project planning, budget and revenue forecasting, program analysis, and meeting objectives.
- Recognized leader in managing long-term and productive relationships with donors, volunteers, colleagues, and organizational leaders.
- Proven experience demonstrating effective “hands on” skills in organizing, motivating, and directing staff and volunteers to achieve shared priorities.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Comfortable interacting with many different individuals in a variety of contexts (staff, students, donors, corporate and foundation partners).
- Planning skills to propose new initiatives and to improve efficiency of current services or operation.
- Proven ability to effectively work across multiple departments and portfolios within an organization.
- Proven experience drafting, editing, and revising policies and procedures, preferably in the field of donor recognition, gift acceptance and acknowledgement.
- Clear understanding of and strict adherence to ethical fundraising standards.
- Result-oriented with a desire to deliver high-quality solutions under demanding timelines.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
