The Technical Specialist, IT Deployment addresses all aspects of a mission-critical IT solution within a larger communication system that supports the operation of the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system. This includes creation of detailed IT deployment plans, IT cutover documents, development and hands-on implementation of the solution, as well as participation in all deployment, verification and validation activities and site testing & commissioning.

The Technical Specialist, IT Deployment will support the DCS team in the implementation and configuration of the IT solution. He/she acts as the Subject Matter Expert in Data Center implementation and operation, providing technical guidance to the project, ensuring effective execution of tasks and resolution of issues while continuously monitoring the deployment status, schedule and budget, and reporting when issues arise.

Key Accountabilities:
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in Data Center implementation and operation, providing technical guidance to the project, ensuring effective execution of tasks and resolution of issues while continuously monitoring the deployment status, schedule and budget, and reporting when issues arise.- Leads the deployment of IT solutions both in the lab and in the field, supporting testing and commissioning activities to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness.- Provides hands-on implementation of the Data Center and all IT components of the Data Communication System.- Provides highest-tier support for complex and high-visibility issues in the field.- Creates and maintains technical documentation and strict configuration control of the DCS deployment artifacts.- Interfaces and builds strong working relationships with Software, Hardware, and IVVQ groups to ensure timely analysis and resolution of in-house and field test issues.- Participates in technical discussions and technical solution presentations to internal and external stakeholders.- Plans and coordinates deployment and troubleshooting activities across multiple projects to ensure alignment with project milestones, timely completion of key deliverables, and resource availability.- Manages technical interactions with other groups within the company, site installation, deployment teams, and the customer.- Optimizes project workflows to enhance efficiency, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions that streamline project execution.

Key Requirements:
- University degree in computer sciences, information technology, engineering, or a closely related field.- 8+ years of experience in configuration, commissioning, and provisioning of Data Centers and IT systems.- Experience with VMWare software-defined data center configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.- Microsoft client and server operating system configuration and administration.- Configuration and troubleshooting experience of Microsoft Active Directory environments.- Experience with Linux operating system administration and configuration.- Knowledge of IT-relevant support systems (Telemetry collection and system monitoring solutions).- Knowledge of administration and configuration of software runtime infrastructure (Docker/Kubernetes).- Knowledge of IT automation solutions (Bash shell/PowerShell scripting, Ansible).- Knowledge of systems development life cycle.- Technical knowledge of network principles and technologies:
- Ethernet/IP-based networking (switching/routing protocols);- Redundancy and high-availability technologies;- Network/IT services;- MPLS and VPN technologies;- RF networking (802.11, LTE, 4G, 5G);- Cyber-security principles, technologies, and solutions.- Software Defined Network (SDN) solutions (e.g., VMWare NSX, Cisco);- SD-WAN solutions.- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Rail signaling knowledge is a plus.- Experience in the deployment and provision of virtualized datacenters using VMWare solutions (vCenter, vSAN).- Industry IT certifications (Microsoft, VMWare, CompTIA) are an asset.- Experience with programming and/or scripting languages, automation tools is a plus.
