Retail Store Front End Lead

**BASIC FUNCTION**
To provide excellent customer service and leadership at the front end of the store including paint, seasonal, houseware and cash departments. Overseeing all aspects of retail operations including inventory levels, merchandising, promotions, and customer service. This role involves initiative in weekly ordering and merchandising of the front-end, power aisles, and end caps. Responsible for meeting sales and margin targets as set by management.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Customer Service & Sales**
- Greet customers with a welcoming attitude.
- Maintain regular contact with existing customers.
- Recommend appropriate products to meet customer needs.
- Demonstrate strong listening skills to understand and resolve customer concerns.
- Thank and acknowledge patrons upon exit.
- Source and process special orders and requests.
- Access returns and customers concerns when required.
- Assist customers with carry outs and loading of outside products.
- Willingness to be cross trained in multiple departments.
**Sales & POS**
- Process transactions using POS system (cash, debit, credit).
- Process E-commerce and online orders.
- Close and reconcile tills at end of day.
- Prepare daily deposits, month-end statements, and other administrative tasks.
- Answer phones and direct calls via paging system.
**Inventory & Merchandising**
- Order inventory weekly; maintain adequate shelf stock and supplies.
- Review and manage new product SKUs, including additions and deletions.
- Monitor slow-moving inventory monthly.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked retail areas.
- Collaborate with all staff to cross merchandise.
- Update retail locations using planograms provided.
- Update store merchandising for seasonal transitions (e.g., Christmas).
- Review new products and industry trends and recommend new lines.
- Execute merchandising strategy on power aisles and end caps regularly.
- Receive products into system; assist with pricing and labeling.
**Staff Leadership & Operations**
- Show initiative in executing above average customer experiences.
- Provide staff with directions and daily task assignments.
- Train and motivate front-end staff.
- Show leadership in achieving sales targets, inventory control, and customer service.
- Act as key holder; open and close the store.
- Cover shifts for holidays, sick days, and busy periods.
- Attend monthly manager meetings and staff training seminars.
- Participate in store events and committees.
**Reporting & Administration**
- Generate and interpret PRISM reports; support staff in report use.
- Attend Home Hardware semi-annual Markets.
- Maintain POS equipment and troubleshoot issues with external support if needed.
- Create product select lists and shelf/UPC labels; ensure UPC accuracy.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in retail sales.
- Motivated, self-starter with strong work ethic.
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and take direction from management.
- Outgoing, personable, and honest.
- Strong family values.
- Adaptable to fast-paced, ever-changing retail environment.
- Physically fit - able to lift 30-50 lb packages.
- Have flexibility to work in any other temporary assignment as designated by Manager
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 44 per week
