As part of the Yuel Artist-in-Residence Program, you’ll work alongside artists, Knowledge Keepers, and curatorial staff to celebrate Northern Plains Indigenous art, support creative practice, and bring powerful exhibitions to life. **Position Summary**: This position is responsible for coordinating the Curator activities for the Yuel Artist-in-Residence Program and providing support and assistance to the Curator. This position is suitable for an emerging museum professional.

**Your duties and responsibilities include**:

- Coordinates activities for the Artist in Residence Program (AiR) and oversees curating AiR exhibitions.
- Coordinates partnerships and outreach during artist residency.
- Manages logistics and external/internal bookings for AiR.
- Assists the Curator with exhibition development, collections management, and the installation of exhibitions.
- Assists the Curator with annual strategic plan.
- Creates social media content, manages the website, and promotes AiR events.
- Assists in collections duties as requested by Curator.
- Leads gallery tours as assigned.
- Assists in research of information necessary for exhibit didactics.
- Writes materials for the website, internal and external publications.
- Assists with monthly art committee meetings with the intent to advise on best practices, funding and exhibit opportunities, comprised of community members.
- Plans, organizes, interprets and presents exhibits and lectures as necessary by Curator.
- Assists with proper collection documentation and management.
- Handles inquires from researchers and the public.
- Demonstrates a commitment to safety in the workplace, including in one’s own work, that of the team and that of the entire organization.
- Assists in any programming development related to museum or gallery content as needed by Curator.
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Working knowledge of collections management and best Curatorial practices.
- Knowledge of Northern Plains Indigenous art and history.
- Comfortable with public speaking including conducting media interviews.
- Experience with or ability to learn technical problem-solving skills for electronic exhibits and displays.
- A degree in History, Art History, or a related degree.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a museum, gallery, or equivalent.
- A suitable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
- An acceptable criminal record check.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment in a professional manner.
- Ability to pass and maintain an acceptable criminal record check.
- A class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

**Additional Requirements**:

- A satisfactory criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.
- Wanuskewin is located outside of Saskatoon city limits and public transportation is not available. Reliable personal transportation is required.
