Fencing Labourer

DC Fence and Contracting is a growing, unionized fence company who is looking for motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team. Our office and yard are located in Pefferlaw, Ontario but we service much of Ontario, specializing in both residential and commercial fencing and gates.

We are looking for reliable team-players with strong problem-solving ability. After a successful 3 month probationary period, new employees will have the opportunity to be a part of Local 183.
- **Primary Responsibilities**:_

As a fence installer you will be responsible for removing, installing and repairing various types of fences and gates, including wood, chain link and ornamental fencing in both commercial and residential settings.

The job will require you to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. You will also be expected to travel and stay out of town when the job dictates.
- Specific job duties include: _
- Measuring and laying out string lines for posthole placement, ensuring that the marks are clear of electrical cables and/or water lines and that the layout meets the requirements outlined in the drawing specifications
- Digging postholes using shovels, posthole diggers or power-driven augers
- Preparing the job site, which may include removing brush and debris
- Aligning posts, using string lines and levels
- Mixing and pouring concrete around bases of posts
- Fence framing, including the cutting and installing of fence rail
- Stretching wire and chain link fencing between posts, fastening fence to frames
- Assembling gates and fastening gates into position using hand tools
- Installing gate hardware and self-closures
- Installing pre-fabricated fence panels on-site
- Pickup up and dropping off materials and supplies

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Fencing and/or construction experience is a definite asset
- Must have a valid G driver's license. AZ license is a plus
- Experience operating equipment, such as: small power tools, skid steer loaders, forklifts, etc., is an asset
- Health & Saftey certificates appreciated e.g. WHMIS
- Welding experience also an asset

**Salary**: $20.00-$21.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
