- Assists in all facets of the Water Distribution system maintenance including corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance, with special emphasis on requirements stipulated by the Ministry of Environment.
- Assists to test distribution chlorine residuals in treated water.
- Maintains the regional water services GIS portal which includes locating of various distribution system assets.
- Prolonged stooping and kneeling are required when repairing and painting of hydrants, sample stations, auto-flushers, valves etc.
- Work exposes incumbent to noise and vibration from vehicles, as well as dust, dirt, odours when outside.
- Wears safety boots and standard issue work clothes at all times and wears safety helmets, gloves, goggles, sunscreen, and standard issue reflective clothing for outdoor work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Has basic mechanical aptitude, mathematics and science normally acquired through the attainment of a secondary school education.
- Holds a valid Operator-in-Training (OIT) certificate to participate in water treatment/distribution.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read written direction.
- Proficient in the use of computers.
- Ability to communicate verbally with supervisor, co-workers, and occasionally with members of the public.
- Must have a valid G driver's license (or G2 with 3 years of driving experience) and acceptable driving record to operate corporate vehicles.
- Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.

- secondary level, though not full-time students, are eligible for related student employment opportunities, where an appropriate match exists i.e. full-time employee in Community Services taking part-time courses to become a caseworker is eligible for a summer student caseworker position.-
