Event Manager, Vcc

We’re seeking a proactive and self-motivated Event Manager to guide our customers and internal teams, seamlessly from planning through execution. You appreciate the results of purposeful work building relations with new and existing clients, industry partners, and suppliers.

Providing proactive, innovative ideas, you align your planning with client goals, to facilitate success for our clients. In addition, you’re attentive to precision and details when clearly communicating client orders and expectations in our event software.

While most of your work will happen in the Convention Centre, this role provides the opportunity for remote work. Core work happens during Monday-Friday business hours but the ability to work outside these hours based on an event’s schedule is essential.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Organize the planning and delivery of events through effective use of negotiation, compromise and understanding
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues, internal departments, partners, and industry.
- Communicate event requirements to internal departments. Collaborating and motivating the teams to align their operation to client goals is essential.
- Take the lead planning unique requirements and providing innovative solutions
- Manage consecutive and concurrent projects, clients, and events
- Effectively manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Proactively take the initiative to support colleagues in the planning and execution of their events

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**:

- Completion of a 2-year diploma in Hospitality, Tourism, Event Management; or, 4-year university degree.
- In lieu of formal education, extensive experience in these fields may be considered.
- 5+ years experience in event or venue management.
- Experience in a client relations role with primary responsibility of the success and outcomes.
- Proven track record of successfully conceptualizing and completing business improvement projects.
- Effective use of software in a planning and collaborative capacity with an ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Assets: experience using Ungerboeck or similar venue management tool, AutoCAD or an equivalent room diagramming tool.
