**Job Summary**:
Our client in Oakville, Ontario is looking for an Test Specialist Consultant/Expert. This is a contract position.

**What You Will Do**:

- This position consists of analyzing business requirements, developing detailed test plans, test scenarios and test cases.
- Conduct QA testing activities for online and batch programs written in COBOL and JCL on IBM z/OS mainframe platforms.
- Adhere to standard Software Quality Assurance methodologies and best practices.
- Identify appropriate tests based on system specifications and/ or business needs and perform defect management activities.
- This role is also responsible for identifying testing process issues and risks.
- Work closely with the development team and the testing lead to organize, manage and provide clear guidance to teams in order to reach the testing goals and tight deadlines with candor, transparency & collaboration.
- Collect testing evidence, prepare the UAT documentation and coordinate the test results review and approval process.

**Basics**:

- Post-Secondary education.
- Ability to conduct testing for complex IBM mainframe systems with strong mainframe skills, ability to modify and understand JCL and PROCS, navigate COBOL programs, use TSO and IBM or equivalent file management tools.
- Strong documentation skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office tools.
- Thorough understanding of the SDLC and Software Quality Assurance concepts and best practices with software testing experience.

**Preferred**:

- Experience with testing and debugging tools, including Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Fault Analyser/Xpeditor, IDMS database technology and with Cobol 6.x conversion projects are advantageous.
