**ROLE**
- Transcribe dictated reports including surgical tissue reports, consultations, addendums, provisional and final autopsy reports, and stat consultations
- Prioritize and organize workflow to ensure accuracy and turnaround standards are met
- Retrieve and review patient reports from required databases; clarify missing or unclear information as needed
- Distribute transcribed Pathology and Cytology reports to physicians
- Troubleshoot and report dictation/transcription equipment or software issues
- Perform daily procedures for electronic authentication of reports
- Provide administrative support to the Lab Manager, Senior/Charge Technologists, and Pathologists
- Carry out general office duties including word processing, filing, scanning, faxing, copying, and answering telephones
- Coordinate frozen section requests with surgeons’ offices and facilitate approvals with Pathologists
- Prepare and submit autopsy specimen documentation to the Centre of Forensic Sciences and required external agencies (Regional Coroner, Crown Attorney, etc.)
- Review and process referred-out testing invoices and consult submissions
- Assist in preparing and maintaining policies and procedures within the Document Management System
- Support audit processes of laboratory practices and assist with scheduling coverage for staff absences
- Prepare departmental payroll including overtime and callback tracking
- Monitor and order supplies, including weekly orders through the Purchasing Department

**REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)**
- Medical Terminology Course
- Certificate in Medical Office Administration course or equivalent experience (Desired)

**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)**
- Medical Transcription experience (minimum one year)
- Exceptional word processing skills including accuracy in spelling and keyboarding (50 wpm), including Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets
- Significant recent clerical experience including excellent organization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgement, take initiative and work independently

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**

**Location**:South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

**Hours of Work**: Monday - Friday, shifts include 6 am to 2 pm and 8 am to 4 pm. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
