Reporting to the Community Programs Supervisor, the Adoptions Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of feline and canine adoptions within the Animal Centre and with off-site adoption partners working to match the animals within our care to their new loving homes.

**Position Schedule**:
Permanent**, **40 hrs per week 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Tuesday - Saturday on-site at the GTHS Animal Centre, and some occasional in-person events in the community. Off-site, evenings, weekends, and after-hours work will be required occasionally.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Adoption Programs_
- Oversee and administer the GTHS Adoption program to ensure that we maintain a professional, approachable, and responsible reputation in the community
- Ensure all adoption materials and paperwork are up-to-date and current including all information contained within our databases relative to adoptions and post-adoption details
- Ensure animal profiles are fulsome, engaging, and provide potential adopters with the information necessary to determine suitable matches. This includes taking pictures and videos and seeking clarification of information from the Animal Care team as required
- Ensure that all animals for adoption are well advertised on the GTHS website, aiming for professional photographs whenever possible
- Work in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team to promote adoptable animals through social media, Facebook live videos, etc.
- Coordinate and grow programs like the Signature Pets, Pet of the Week, and Pet of the Month
- Provide internal reports on the GTHS Adoption Program as required
- Monitor the adoptions process ensuring exceptional customer service is at the forefront of our adoptions program
- Review internal policies, procedures, and fees to ensure effectiveness and efficiencies are maintained and in line with alike organizations
- Develop and execute a comprehensive follow-up program to ensure GTHS adoptions are successful
- Administer and oversee off-site adoption events with partnering organizations (pet stores) including monthly “Pup-Up” adoption events at pet stores
- Volunteer Team Leadership_
- Ensure that organizational and departmental information is communicated effectively and in a timely manner to the Adoption team
- Orient and train new team members on GTHS policies and procedures and monitor their adherence to these policies
- Coordinate follow up and on-going refresher training for the adoptions team
- Assist with conflict resolution among your team in consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator (VC) and Community Programs Supervisor
- Ensure that your team works in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
- Ensure appropriate team coverage by monitoring schedules and initiating recruitment campaigns for new volunteers when required
- Develop strong relationships with your team ensuring that they are engaged, informed, and recognized for their contributions
- **Qualifications**:_
- A diploma in Animal Care, Customer Care, Administration, or equivalent work experience/credentials
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience
- Clean driving record, current Ontario driver’s license, and ability to drive the GTHS cargo van to off-site locations on occasion is a condition of employment
- Ability to work with all temperaments and sizes of cats and dogs
- A sound foundation in basic animal handling, and/or animal behaviour which matches the handling protocols of GTHS is an asset
- Knowledge of or experience with PetPoint database systems would be an asset
- Highly detail oriented and experience in scheduling and planning methods
- Superior customer service and communication skills
- Ability to develop a positive and productive relationship with the GTHS volunteers
- Strong time management and interpersonal skills
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization
- Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques
- Knowledge of or experience with social media platforms to promote adoptable animals
- Demonstrate understanding of, and passion for, animal welfare
