JOB OVERVIEW Administrative - Assist with planning and development of the Summer Day Camp Program for one week camp event - Assist with assessment and intake of participants into the Summer Day Camp Program in Toronto, Ontario - Establish respectful and empathetic relationships with families while responding to inquiries and providing support - Utilize community resources and liaise with community members - Update family/individualized information in the database to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date Summer Day Camp - Lead activities within the Camp Jake’s House Summer Day Camp Program working closely with other instructors and volunteers - Create a fun, enjoyable and safe atmosphere for participants and volunteers - Ensure all children and adult programs provide quality care, service and support to the participants and their families - Understand and complies with provincial, municipal and Jake’s House health and safety policies - Plan and implement a consistent program in accordance with Jake’s House curriculum - Demonstrating emotional maturity, a positive attitude, thoughtfulness and stability in decision-making - Complete required documentation of participants development and interactions - Identify the indicators of abuse and is prepared to report signs of child abuse to the Child Protection Services REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background in working with youth and children in a community-based setting - 4 year bachelor’s degree in a related discipline considered an asset - Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-based programs - Demonstrated experience in community outreach - At least 1 year experience working with children and/or adults with autism or with developmental delays - Must be able to commute to workplace locations (accommodations may be arranged). - Excellent, current knowledge of community resources for adults with developmental disabilities - Excellent written and verbal skills, who actively listens - Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively and is capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously - Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel -advanced level, PowerPoint, etc.).
