**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:
- The evolution of smart meter data along with implementation of an enterprise analytics foundation
- that leverages this data along with a variety of other internal BC Hydro and external data sources
- has resulted in more population scale analyses and machine learning analytics. This role engages
- complex analytical assignments requiring business solution development and modeling for rate
- design, load forecasting and distribution planning. The primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting the planning, organizing, and implementation of studies monitoring and forecasting
energy consumption, system inefficiencies, power outages, equipment failures, customer
- segmentation, and load and market research programs and customer surveys.- Providing high level expertise in complex load research, forecasting, profitability, customer
information and other studies related to customer and energy management policies.- Developing complex and comprehensive economic and energy forecasts through research and- Directing and/or developing and maintaining advanced modeling techniques for use in
discovering insights in data; establishing and ensuring modeling methodology and forecasting
- techniques and procedures used throughout the team are appropriate and applied properly.- Working with clients within other Business Units using analytics and data to improve
performance, reduce errors, ensure process compliance, and reduce costs.- Reviewing planning methodologies resulting from technological and software developments;
presenting change recommendations for approval within immediate team.- Maintaining currency with socio-economic, demographic and technological trends and
segmentation approaches to forecast and prepare impact reports related to lifestyle, business and
- technological change scenarios.- Assessing business operations, program productivity, auditing staff usage of systems and data
for privacy and business confidentiality concerns**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or other quantitative
discipline. Graduate level credentials and/or professional certifications preferred (e.g. P.Eng,
- Computer Science, Statistics)- 6-8 years’ experience in analytical roles related to load research, customer surveys and
economic studies to a high level of expertise.- Well-developed knowledge of advanced statistical techniques, file and database structure,
information system design, data modelling, data analysis, survey and evaluation skills- Intermediate level programming skills (e.g. SAS, R, Python languages)
- Intermediate level database skills (i.e. SQL database querying languages)
- Well-developed project leadership, presentation, oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Technical understanding of utility data on how energy is generated and delivered within an
electrical distribution network.
