Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Unit Manager, the unit clerk is responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to staff, physicians and the leadership team overseeing the unit operations. The Unit Clerk is the person responsible for greeting patients and families and provides the initial reception to a safe and supported inpatient environment. The Unit Clerk works closely with the clinical team to ensure that patients, staff and the unit have access to supplies needed to keep the unit operating smoothly. The Unit Clerk also works closely with the care team to book rooms and meetings and other related tasks that support the team in being organized and responsive to patient and family care. CEDP currently has 6 inpatient beds on PCU 32 at FMC. CEDP will move to PCU 57, a newly renovated 10 bed unit in December 2025. This position will initially work at ACH and RRDTC, until the new unit opens to become familiar with the program, the team, work flow and patient care.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Recognized Unit Clerk course required. Greets and directs patients, families and visitors and staff when entering the unit. Manages and supports the entry/exit of the locked unit. Maintains professional communication when answering the unit phones, responding to call bells and relays any messages in a timely manner. Always maintains the privacy and confidentiality of patients. Reviews and processes physician orders including medication, labs, diagnostic imaging and any additional treatment orders. Coordinates and schedules patient tests and treatment needs as requested. Arranges transportation between hospitals as requested. Contacts patients to advise of admission (if elective) and provides direction to the unit and other related information (e.g. parking, pt drop off). Coordinates rooms bookings and staff schedules and admissions, including linkages with the outpatient care team. Communicates with other departments (dietary, housekeeping, linen, IT, etc.) to ensure the unit has adequate or appropriate supplies. Sends discharge summary to outpatient care team. Participates in unit meetings and takes minutes when requested. Collaborates with the CEDP Admin team at ACH and RRDTC to ensure coordination of patients flow across the continuum of care. Communicates with the scheduling department for flow sheets and related time sheets.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Familiarity with Connect care, including scheduling appointments and building templates. Strong computer skills required, including MS Office, ESP/WFM access. Experience with timekeeping. Experience working in a mental health setting, and/or acute care unit. Working knowledge of FM& E portal for maintenance requests
