**EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY**
**The Opportunity - Electoral Officer**
Electoral Officers (EOs) are the front-line members of OneFeather, facilitating voting events in Indigenous communities across this land we call Canada. EOs are required to read and understand electoral codes, prepare necessary documents with precision, engage in respectful consultation with First Nations, and facilitate voting events online or in person. EOs work closely with a dedicated team (the Chief Elections Operations Officer, the Field Success Manager, the Client Success Manager, the Elections Operations Manager, other Electoral Officers, and Voting Event Assistants) to ensure that processes and documentation are compliant with each Nation’s election code and are legally enforceable. Electoral Officers report to the Chief Elections Operations Officer.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Reading and comprehending legally binding electoral code and creating deadlines and timelines around this for each concurrent event.
- Running polling stations in Indigenous communities, sometimes alone and sometimes with assistants, entails preparing accurate documentation according to the election code, enforcing rules, accurately counting votes, and effectively communicating the election results.
- Working with the Chief Elections Operations Officer, the Field Success Manager, the Client Success Manager, the Elections Operations Manager, other Electoral Officers, and Voting Event Assistants for all electoral duties listed above.
- Proofreading and verifying the information on documents created by other team members and Nations.
- Travelling by air, sea, and land to and from voting events across Canada throughout the year in varying conditions which may include weekends.
- Run polling locations while providing guidance to support staff as required.
- Attend in-community key meetings, remotely and in-person.
- Coordinate the execution of the voting event and strategy according to specific legal procedures outlined by Nation.
- Contribute to the development of operational plans and procedures for event success and client satisfaction, including increasing voting event efficiencies, improved communication, and other administrative improvements.
- Build, manage and sustain the client relationships which create an enduring relationship with OneFeather.
- Other related tasks and duties as required.
- Hosting nomination meetings is done on location in Indigenous communities, sometimes solo, and sometimes with assistance.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- University or College certificate/diploma and/or 2+ years in a related discipline (Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, Economics or Social Sciences).
- Previous experience working with a First Nation community or organization is an asset.

**Skills, Abilities and Experience**
- Experience in project or event planning and coordination.
- Able to manage multiple projects at a time as an effective team member as well as independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent time management and organization; able to manage competing priorities and produce results within tight deadlines.
- Willing to work diligently to achieve the highest quality results with strong attention to detail.
- Goal and achievement orientated with a desire to learn new skills.

- Effective problem-solving abilities using innovative approaches, tact, maturity, and good judgement.
- Ability to train adults, individually and in groups, to understand and perform detailed procedures in plain language verbally and in writing.
- Ability to adapt and respond to change positively.
- Ability to handle confidential issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Proficient computer skills including with MS Office and Excel. Experience with ClickUp and Slack are an asset.
- Able to travel, including occasionally on weekends.
