Century Downs Racetrack and Casino is looking for a **seasonal Bartender **to join our **Food & Beverage** team during our racing season.

SUMMARY
To greet customers as they approach the bar and serve them. Assisting other staff in all ways possible to enhance the customer’s experience. Specifically, to make mixed cocktails alcoholic or non-alcoholic, to help servers in obtaining all their alcoholic beverages, to wash glassware, cut fruit, stock beverages, and supplies. Assists with always keeping a clean and organized work environment. To perform duties in compliance with company policies as well as all local safety and health standards and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Within the realm of the responsibility of the job, maintain a clean and safe work environment. Performs duties in compliance with safety procedures, which includes the use of safety equipment. Incumbents are responsible for following safety procedures, identifying unsafe practices or conditions, and informing their supervisor of unsafe conditions, as directed.
2. Sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and food snacks, to customers and staff members courteously and promptly.
3. Provides quality services in order to encourage customers to purchase bar services.
4. Acts to consistently maintain a properly stocked, clean, and well-organized bar always. Ensure that all liquor controls are closely monitored and tightly maintained.
5. Monitors cash flow and complies with money handling procedures, as directed. Acts to prevent loss and theft, and to maintain the integrity of all cash and comp transactions.
6. Monitors customers for intoxication, will discontinue alcohol sales, and informs security and immediate supervisor. Alerts supervisor and security of customers who may be difficult or possibly violent.
7. Coordinated bartending activities with the rounds and breaks of Cocktail Servers.
8. Promotes events in gaming, slots, the restaurant, and other areas, as required or requested. Makes a change for customers.
9. Develops, maintains, and enhances positive relations with all customers and staff members.
10. Wears and maintains all uniforms properly.
11. Performs all duties in compliance with the AGLC legislation.
12. Alerts supervisor of any concerns regarding the quality, selection, and variety of all beverages and food.
13. Complies with established security policies and procedures.
14. Maintains alertness for the performance of all responsibilities, and before acting, exercises cautionand evaluates circumstances for appropriate security or safety response. Seeks supervision and guidance from the supervisor, as needed or directed.
15. Takes all training courses as required by Casino Management.
16. Attendance: reports to work as scheduled, on time, and ready to work.
17. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated bartending experience, preferably within hospitality, a restaurant, or a gaming environment. Demonstrated experience performing within specific deadlines or under pressure. Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, organizing, and prioritizing work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma. A combination of education and experience may be considered. One (1) or more years of recent and related bartending experience, preferably within hospitality, a restaurant, or a gaming environment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid AGLC ProServe certification. Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills using English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers.

REASONING ABILITY
Decisions are limited to within the scope of essential duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential duties may involve performing physical exertion: frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, pushing for an entire work shift, with standard breaks, in order to perform duties. Essential duties involve working in a small, confined area used to prepare beverages, with floors that may become slippery in the process of preparation. Essential duties require lifting trays containing food; and lifting up to 100 pounds to stack, store or move bartending, kitchen, restaurant, or general office supplies and equipment. Essential duties involve a flexible work week with additional hours routinely required.
