**Position Summary**
The Circulation Clerk is responsible for the day to day operations of the circulation desk using an automated circulation system. This includes providing a range of front-line public service and support duties from reader’s advisory to technical assistance. This position reports directly to the CEO or designate.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Perform the full range of circulation desk procedures by scanning and tracking all library inventory within the automated circulation system.
- Register new users verifying the required documentation or taking membership fees as required.
- Collect fees and manage cash register following established procedures.
- Perform basic technical troubleshooting of office equipment, and software programs occasionally working with professional technical support.
- Assist users with e-reader use including basic troubleshooting and downloading library resources.
- Process new books and periodicals for display and circulation using established procedures.
- Teach and assist library users with the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to search library holdings from a computer terminal including online resources and e-books.
- Assist patrons with orders for Inter-Library Loans.
- Respond to routine queries and answer a variety of questions from users both in person and over the phone.
- Assist with the general maintenance of the library collection, including shelving materials and performing routine repairs on books and other holdings.
- Assist with the cataloguing of new materials.
- Prepare in-library displays.
- Assist with the maintenance of the physical appearance of the Library, including light cleaning duties.
**Education, Experience and Qualifications**:
- Ontario Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work through information technology troubleshooting with occasional assistance of technical support.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Police Record Check dated within six months
**Schedule and Hours**
- Contract to end December 2025 with the possibility of extension
- 12 hours per week
- Days, Evenings and Weekends required.
- This position may be assigned to work at the Port Carling or Bala Branch.
