**What Does an ERU Patroller Do?**:
As a member of the Emergency Response (ER) Unit, the ER Patroller will attend to incidents on highways and ensure safety for the travelling public. In this role, the ER Patroller will also patrol the highways to identify deficiencies and make minor repairs to the highway daily.

**As an ERU Patroller, You Will**:

- Respond to calls dispatched from MTO with urgency; complete incident investigations along with the Emergency Response Operator and liaise with the Supervisor and MTO, as needed
- Communicate with authorities on site - police, fire, etc. and liaise with MTO central dispatch to ensure adequate resources are available to maintain public safety on the highways during inclement weather and road conditions
- Provide traffic control at work zones and at accident scenes, including set up and take down of traffic closures
- Respond to emergency situations and implement an emergency plan in situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather, etc.
- Assist in the identification of deficiencies by performing regular daily patrols of the highways
- Make minor repairs to the highway
- Conduct daily circle checks on vehicles before operating
- Clean and maintain equipment, and perform minor repairs
- Maintain accurate documentation, including hours of service, fuel records, incident reports, time sheets, diaries, logs etc.
- Other duties as assigned

**What You'll Bring**:

- Knowledge of OTM book 7 will be considered a strong asset
- Class D commercial license with air brake endorsement (Z), is required
- A high school diploma, required

- Customer service oriented to effectively communicate with various stake holders (MTO, General Public) and attend to their concerns with the utmost sense of urgency
- Excellent team player, proven ability to work productively in a highly functional team
- Flexibility and organizational skills to multi-task and manage time in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Basic computer skills to navigate weather, equipment data, Miller and MTO work sites
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) to accurately document daily activities, incident reports and deficiency logs
- Willingness to work assigned day, night, and weekend shifts
- Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 25 kilograms
- Comfortable working and driving in extreme weather conditions
